Abstract: Latex is a powerful typesetting program for generation of professional documents containing mathematics. The development of windows-based editors for the preparation of latex documents has significantly reduced the learning time for Latex. We will discuss both the Kile interface which runs under linux partition and WinEdt which is the standard Windows interface. With such facilities one can very quickly typeset and produce documents containing mathematics. I will focus on the use of these tools for the development of your first mathematics document. We will discuss the basics for typesetting math equations, labeling these equations, adding figures, etc.
